Colored pencil pinup of sexy Brazillian actress Norma Bengell as "Sanya" from the cult classic "Planet of the Vampires" 1965. I remembered seeing bits of that film ALL the time on late night TV when I was a kid under the title "Demon Planet" but I dont think I had ever seen the whole thing. Regardless I always remembered the spooky atmosphere and super awesome black leather space outfits...cut to about 6 months ago I was on a big time jag watching 50's - 60's sci fi films and I remembered that movie and started discussing it with people and lo and behold I found out there was a recent pristine restoration released on DVD! So I bought it and have since watched and enjoyed it several times (I also had it going constantly while working on this picture)

Made in Italy on a shoe string budget by cult fave director Mario Bava it is quite a unique film regarding use of color, sound effects and...those outfits! As a friend of mine very aptly described it "It's a cheap but beautifully made film" and I couldn't agree more!

AND the similarities in story line to Ridley Scott's "Alien" are NOT a coincidence!

Anyway I tried to do justice to beautiful Norma, to Bava's colors, and to Gabriele Mayer's awesome outfits! thank you for looking :D
