Description
These crocuses were painted on a mini canvas, only 3" x 3". I always look forward to seeing crocuses in spring, but this year, my region received about a foot of snow on the last day of winter, so my First Day of Spring saw me looking at a white wilderness, instead of a change of seasons. Undaunted, I decided the Vernal Equinox was the perfect day to paint my own Spring Crocuses. The orginal painting comes with a matching wooden easel for display purposes. It looks really pretty on my desk. I may have to make additional minis, to share them with others.

This is so fresh and pretty Jennifer and I'm amazed it is so tiny. I would never have guessed. It would make a wonderful print enlarged just a bit, and I just looked to see how big it would go. I think your minis are an excellent idea. Maybe a whole series?? v/f

Thanks, Jane! I'm thinking I might revisit this one in a larger size at some point. There was more to the reference photo than I could fit in the tiny canvas space. I do have two other sketched and waiting in the wings. One is a crab apple branch, and the other is three tulip blooms. I'll probably get to them this week. The upshot of painting minis is that they only take 2 or 3 hours to complete a whole painting. It makes me feel very productive. LOL!
